The Covid regulation forced companies to hold AGMs without a live audience once again in 2021. For Swisscom, we were allowed to use this situation as an opportunity and explore how a virtual AGM, as it will be possible in a few years, could feel: informative, entertaining and captivating.
We developed various scenarios for providing information before, during and after the AGM. We realized that shareholders need more information up front because they need to form their opinions before the AGM. As the centerpiece of this additional information, we produced an animation that explained the complex topic of compensation in a crisp and illustrative form as a supplement to the usual, detailed report. As the election of a new Chairman of the Board of Directors was scheduled for the AGM 2021, we produced a portrait in which the candidate, Michael Rechsteiner, introduced himself to the shareholders.
Instead of the usual speeches we had an entertaining talk with the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the CEO, presented by the head of sports programming at Blue TV. With success: Rarely have shareholders been able to experience executives of “their” company so authentically and directly.
The hub of the shareholder dialog was the IR section of Swisscom’s website, where all the preliminary information was stored, the live broadcast was shown and all the most important sequences of the stream could be viewed a second time.
